A festival celebrating underwater exploration of our Great Lakes maritime history
Georgann and Mike have been diving around the world since the mid 1970's. Though sites in the Caribbean, Atlantic and Pacific have fascinated them, wreck research and diving the Great Lakes is their passion. This has resulted in five books. Their newest volume Erie Wrecks & Lights, complements their two books currently in print—Erie Wrecks West and Erie Wrecks East, Second Edition. In addition they have published articles in several magazines and newspapers including Advanced Diver, Quantum, Lake Erie Life Styles, Midwest Dive News and Inland Seas. Their knowledge of the lakes has been cited in Skin Diver, The Cleveland Plain Dealer, The Chicago Tribune and Cleveland Magazine.
Mike and Georgann have held a variety of offices in dive clubs, including the Aqua Masters of Lakewood and Lake Erie Wreck Divers of Lorain, Ohio and have been assistant scuba instructors.
Both have been active in the Maritime Archaeological Survey Team (MAST) where Mike is past president and Georgann has been treasurer. Under Mike's tenure six shipwrecks in Ohio waters were moored for divers.
Georgann and Mike have presented scores of programs and displays to groups such as The Erie Maritime Museum, Erie, PA; New York Sea Grant, Oswego, NY; Goderich Marine Heritage Festival, Goderich, Ontario; Shipwrecks, Welland, Ontario; Ohio Council Scubafest; The Great Lakes Historical Society, Vermilion, OH; Shipwrecks Remembered, Port Huron, MI, Shipwrecks & Scuba, Sandusky, Ohio and Ghost Ships Festival, Milwaukee, WI.
