A festival celebrating underwater exploration of our Great Lakes maritime history
If you are a Clive Cussler fan you know that NUMA is the organization that Dirk Pitt works for and is the focus of the fiction novels. In the late 1970's it also became a real non-profit organization that searches for America's forgotten maritime history, to date locating over 60 shipwrecks. This presentation will briefly show some of the projects, successful and not so successful. NUMA is funded by the sale of Clive Cussler's books and is unique in that it does not excavate shipwrecks or search for treasure. Its goal is only to locate and pass on the locations to the appropriate authorities. It is NUMA's goal to raise awareness of forgotten history. Join with us as Ralph Wilbanks takes on searches from Texas to Maine.
